Federal Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program is a federally funded, »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp-based aid program designed to provide part-time jobs for eligible students with financial need.

  • Jobs are located both on and off-»Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp are paid at least minimum wage. Some positions pay a higher wage.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp work around their class schedules.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp receive a bi-weekly paycheck for hours worked. 

To participate:

  • Submit the FAFSA no later than December 1 each year.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp must have demonstrated financial need per the FAFSA.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp must be meeting Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours) each semester they are employed.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp may not work more than 29 hours per week.
  • »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp may not work during regularly scheduled class times or activities.
  • Student earnings may not exceed the amount of Federal Work-Study that appears on their most recent financial aid award.

Details

The Office of Student Financial Aid will send an award notification to eligible students with instructions for securing a job.

Fees owed The »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp will not be deducted from wages earned through the Federal Work-Study Program.

Though program earnings are taxable income, they are excluded from consideration as income on the FAFSA for the following year.
