Cochran, Jack and Barbara Endowed Scholarship

The Jack and Barbara Cochran Endowed Scholarship, established in July 2018, recognizes deserving and talented students pursuing graduate degrees in The »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp School of Counseling.  

Jack retired from The »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp as Professor Emeritus in 1989 after 20 years of dedicated service to what was then the Department of Counseling.  During Jack’s time as a member of the faculty he advised many doctoral students while supervising approximately 20 dissertations, in addition to numerous master’s degree theses.  Jack was active in the counseling professional community at both the local and state levels, earning awards for his service and leadership.  He continued private practice of career counseling after his retirement.

Barbara graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting.  During the time that the Cochrans lived in the »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp area, Barbara had a 30 year career with the Westfield Group, serving in various officer positions and retiring as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.

Continuing the spirit of the counseling profession, Jack and Barbara wish to provide financial assistance to master’s degree students in the School of Counseling, helping them achieve their own educational and career goals of helping others.

The Jack and Barbara Cochran Endowed Scholarship shall be awarded annually to graduate student(s) enrolled in The »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵApp School of Counseling pursuing their master’s degree who demonstrate financial need. In the event no master’s degree students are available, students pursuing a Ph.D. within the School of Counseling may apply.  Candidates will be selected by the School of Counseling, and the scholarship may be renewed as long as the recipient(s) remains in good academic standing.
